Overview of Services

The mission of the X-ray Crystallography Core Laboratory is to provide state-of-the-art resources to researchers at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and to external users, enabling the detailed 3-D analyses of biological macromolecules that play important roles in human health.

Additive Screen	per plate, imaging included Optimization of an initial crystal hit condition using additive reagents in a 96-well plate that accepts up to three proteins per well. Available additive screens include Hampton Research Additive Screen, Qiagen Opti Salt, and Jena Bioscience JBScreen Plus Additives.	External – Academic $37.00 each
Crystal Optimization, Vapor Diffusion	per plate Grid screen optimization of initial crystal hit conditions in a 24-well plate that accepts up to four proteins per well.	External – Academic $42.00 each
Crystal Screen, Microbatch	per plate, imaging included Crystal screening using 96 conditions. The microbatch technique mixes protein solution and a crystallization reagent solution in a small volume to be covered with oil. It is recommended to add up to 30% glycerol with the protein solution for this method. A complete setup consists of 18 commercial screens incubated at 22°C.	External – Academic $42.00 each
